Testimony before the CO Congress

Posted by Ray Agostinelli at 2007-02-20 16:39

Senate Bill 23, by Sen. Bob Hagedorn, D-Aurora, and Rep. Anne McGihon, D-Denver, would ban artificial tans for people under 18 unless they have a rare skin condition or psychological disorder that can be helped with tanning. On Feb. 7, Hunter Sams' testified before the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, which approved the measure on a 5-4 party line vote. I would be interested to hear other dermatologists' opinions on this ground-breaking legislation.

I am dermatologist in Kentucky. We have been trying to get similar legislation passed here for the past several years, with little success. I would be interested to learn about the strategies the CO group adopted.

Posting here from California. I second the motion - would love to learn more about the action plan in CO. Seems like there was a great mix of advocacy at the state level with grassroots education within individual communities.
